Vinyl lettering · Las Vegas

Vinyl lettering in Las Vegas for doors, windows and walls

Business hours, suite numbers, company names, logos and wall lettering — cut from vinyl with no background, weeded and masked on application tape at our shop on W Reno Ave, then installed by our crew or sent ready for you to apply. Price glass lettering in the window graphics quote and wall lettering in the wall graphics quote.

What cut vinyl lettering is

Cut lettering is letters and shapes with nothing around them. We print the lettering in your colours, cut along every edge of every letter, then weed it: pick away the vinyl between and inside the letters, down to the centres of the e's and o's. Application tape goes over the top and holds every letter in place, so a whole line goes onto the door in one piece, with the spacing and the baseline exactly as designed.

On glass, cut lettering looks painted on. On a wall it looks like signage, not a sticker. There's no film edge around the words — just the letters.

Where lettering goes

  • Doors and storefront glass — the business name, hours, phone number, website, suite number and entry notices.
  • Office glass — the company name on the reception door, room names on conference rooms, and frosted lettering on sidelights and partitions.
  • Walls — lobby logos, mission statements and values, wayfinding, room and floor numbers, a line of type in the break room.
  • Counters, equipment and fixtures — names, numbers and labels on smooth counters, cases, panels and machines.
  • Events and pop-ups — sponsor names and room signs on walls, on removable vinyl that comes off after the event.

Which vinyl for which surface

On glass, lettering is printed on clear window film with a layer of white ink behind the colours, so it looks solid from the street instead of see-through. Lettering on the inside of the glass is printed reversed so it reads correctly from outside — and stays out of the weather and out of reach. Clear lettering film uses a long-term adhesive: it's made to stay up, and removing it takes more work.

Frosted lettering, cut from frosted glass film, gives the etched-glass look on office doors and conference rooms. See frosted window film.

On painted walls, lettering is cut from removable wall vinyl, which comes off clean for up to about two years, or low-tack vinyl on fresh or delicate paint. On smooth doors, metal and counters that won't change, it's cut from permanent vinyl.

Textured walls and brick are harder for lettering: thin strokes and small letters have little surface to grip. Go bold, and we'll cut it from the conformable textured-wall film, which is heated into the surface.

Designing lettering that cuts and reads

More on getting a file ready: the large-format file setup guide.

  • Send vector artwork. Lettering is cut along the outlines in your file, so it needs a PDF, AI, EPS or SVG with the text converted to outlines. A photo or screenshot of a logo can't be cut cleanly — the quote flags it, and you can send a vector version or choose cut to shape instead.
  • Watch the thin parts. Hairline serifs, script joins and tiny punctuation are the hardest parts to weed and to apply. If something is too fine to cut cleanly, we'll tell you before it's cut.
  • Size it for where people stand. Hours are read from the sidewalk; a company name from the parking lot. Tape a paper mock-up to the glass and step back before you order.
  • Set the spacing in the file. The application tape keeps your letter and line spacing exactly, so make it look right on screen at the finished size.
  • Pick contrast. Light lettering on dark or tinted glass, dark lettering on light walls. Check how glass lettering looks from inside as well as from the street.
  • On one-way film, go big. If the lettering is printed on perforated window film instead of cut, keep it at least 2 inches tall; the holes break up smaller text.

Pricing lettering online

Glass and door lettering prices in the window graphics quote. Enter the size of the lettering area, upload your vector file, and answer “What should the glass do?” with Lettering. Then open the material options and choose Cut lettering. The quote recommends the film, prints it reversed if it goes on the inside, and includes the application tape.

Wall lettering prices the same way in the wall graphics quote: it recommends removable vinyl for a painted wall, and you choose Cut lettering in the material options.

Lettering is priced on the area it covers plus the cutting and the hand weeding, so detailed lettering costs more than big, simple letters of the same size. Need it laid out? Send us the words, your logo and the size of the glass or wall and we'll design it for you to approve.

Installed by our crew, or by you

Our crew installs lettering level and centred on glass, doors, walls and counters — after hours if your business is open during the day. See installation.

Applying it yourself? Lettering arrives masked and ready to go:

  • Clean the surface and let it dry completely — no dust, wax or cleaner left behind.
  • Tape the sheet in position, check it with a level, and run a strip of masking tape across the middle as a hinge.
  • Lift one half, peel the backing away up to the hinge and cut it off.
  • Squeegee from the hinge outward in firm, overlapping strokes, then do the same with the other half.
  • Peel the application tape back on itself, slowly and close to the surface. If a letter lifts with the tape, lay the tape back down, squeegee that spot again and keep going.

Lettering, decals or dimensional letters?

Lettering with no background suits names, hours and words. If the design has a background, a photo or a shape around it, it's a printed decal cut to shape — see custom decals and stickers.

If you'd like letters you can touch, standing off the wall in acrylic or aluminum composite, our sister shop The Job Shop cuts dimensional letters on CNC routers and lasers, and we can print the vinyl that goes on them.

Comparing films for a storefront promotion? Window clings vs decals explains when a no-adhesive cling makes more sense than lettering.

What moves the price

Lettering isn't priced per letter. Upload your file and the quote prices it for your glass — these are the things that change it:

  • The glass area
  • The film (one-way, clear, frosted, static cling, blockout)
  • White ink behind the colours on clear film
  • Cut lettering and application tape
  • Installation, height and access
  • Turnaround

Questions we get

Do you make vinyl lettering in Las Vegas?

Yes. We cut vinyl lettering at our shop at 4545 W Reno Ave for doors, storefront glass, office glass, walls and counters — business names, hours, suite numbers, logos and wall lettering — and our crew installs it across Las Vegas. Price it online in the window or wall quote.

How much does vinyl lettering cost?

It depends on the area the lettering covers, the vinyl, how detailed it is to cut and weed, and whether we install it. Upload your vector file to the window or wall quote, choose cut lettering, and you'll see the price for your lettering in seconds.

Can you put our business hours on the door?

Yes. Send the hours as text or a vector file with the size of the glass, and say whether it goes on the inside or the outside. Inside-the-glass lettering is printed reversed so it reads from the street. We can lay it out for you if you'd like.

Does vinyl lettering go on the inside or the outside of the glass?

Either. Outside, it's easy to see and easy to reach for cleaning. Inside, it's out of the weather and out of reach, and we print it reversed so it reads correctly from outside. The window quote asks which side and adjusts the print for it.

Will vinyl lettering damage paint or glass when it comes off?

Lettering on removable wall vinyl comes off painted walls clean for up to about two years, and low-tack vinyl is gentler still. Clear lettering film on glass uses a long-term adhesive, so removing it takes more time and a clean-up of the glass afterwards.

What file do I need for cut vinyl lettering?

A vector file — PDF, AI, EPS or SVG — with the text converted to outlines, at the finished size or to scale. Cut lettering follows the outlines in the file, so a photo or screenshot of the words can't be cut cleanly.

Can I apply vinyl lettering myself?

Yes. It arrives weeded and masked on application tape with the spacing set. Clean the glass, hinge the sheet in place with tape, squeegee it down half at a time, and peel the tape back slowly. Larger or high lettering is easier to leave to our crew.
