Perforated (one-way) window film in Las Vegas

Full-colour storefront graphics on the outside of the glass, with a view out from inside — printed at our shop on W Reno Ave and installed by our crew. Upload your artwork to the window graphics quote, choose “graphics people can see out through”, and see the price for your glass.

How one-way film works

Perforated window film is vinyl punched full of small holes, printed on one side and dark on the other. It goes on the outside of the glass, printed side out. From the street, your eye blends the printed dots into one image. From inside, the dark side and the holes let you look straight through — the graphic all but disappears.

The trick is light. Whichever side is brighter sees the graphic; the darker side sees through. On a sunny Las Vegas day the street is far brighter than any store, so the effect is strong: a full-colour window outside, a lightly shaded view out from the counter.

That's why it's the film for storefronts, restaurant windows, office glass at street level and lobby windows during an event — anywhere the glass has to advertise without walling the room in.

Day and night

At night the effect flips. When the store is lit and the street is dark, people outside can see in through the holes, and the graphic looks faint against the bright interior. People inside see their own reflection more than the street.

If the windows need to read after dark too, light the graphic from outside, or put the message that matters most on solid film — blockout vinyl or printed clear film — on part of the glass, and keep the one-way film where the view out matters. The window graphics page covers the other films.

Holes, view and fine detail

One-way film is a trade-off between film and holes. More film means a stronger image outside and a dimmer view in; more open area means a clearer view and a lighter image. Perforated films are made in a range of hole patterns — ask us which one we're running before you design around it.

The holes break up thin lines and small text. Keep lettering at least 2 inches tall; when you upload, the Artwork check marks any lettering smaller than that right on the drawing of your glass. Bold shapes, big type and strong photos read well. Hairline rules, fine print and pale colours don't.

Storefronts are seen from a couple of feet away on the sidewalk to across the parking lot. The quote grades your images for that range — about 2 feet up close, 8 feet typical — at the size you're ordering, and tells you how close they hold up.

Sun, dust and how long it lasts

Perforated film lives on the outside of the glass, in full Las Vegas sun. How long it looks good depends on which way the glass faces, how many hours of direct sun it takes, and how the window is cleaned. We don't print a number of years here. The quote asks how long the graphic needs to stay up and sets the finish for that.

For more than a year outside, we add an optically clear laminate. It seals the holes against dust and the occasional rain — which otherwise collect in them and dull the view out — and protects the print. For a seasonal promotion, the film goes up without it.

Wash it gently: a soft cloth or squeegee with mild soapy water, no pressure washer, and no blade near the edges of the film.

Measuring storefronts and mullions

Measure each pane of glass inside its frame, not the whole storefront. Film is trimmed to the edge of each pane, so a design that runs across several panes is split at the mullions — the bars between panes — and the bars show as gaps in the image. Keep faces, words and logos off the mullion lines.

Panes wider than the roll print in vertical pieces that overlap by a quarter inch, with half an inch extra at the edges for trimming to the frame. The quote draws every piece on your glass; drag a seam off text if it lands on it. On doors, leave room around handles, push bars and hardware.

Installation and removal

Our crew cleans the glass, applies the film to the outside and trims it to each pane. Glass above ladder height needs a lift, which we confirm with you. When the campaign changes, perforated film comes off the glass clean; choose “take it down later” on the quote if you'd like us to remove it. See installation for how installs are scheduled and priced.

Thinking of putting it inside the glass instead? One-way film is made for the outside. Inside, the graphic is seen through the glass and the view out is dimmer — the quote says so if you choose it.

What moves the price

Upload your artwork to the window graphics quote, choose “graphics people can see out through”, and the price is for your own glass. These are the things that change it:

  • The glass area
  • The film (one-way, clear, frosted, static cling, blockout)
  • White ink behind the colours on clear film
  • Cut lettering and application tape
  • Installation, height and access
  • Turnaround

Questions we get

Do you install perforated window film in Las Vegas?

Yes. We print perforated one-way window film at our shop at 4545 W Reno Ave and our crew installs it on storefronts, offices, restaurants and lobby glass across Las Vegas. Price it online with the window graphics quote — choose “graphics people can see out through”.

Does perforated window film work at night?

Not the same way. The brighter side sees the graphic, so at night, with the store lit and the street dark, people outside can see in and the graphic looks faint. Light the graphic from outside, or put the key message on solid film, if it has to read after dark.

How long does perforated window film last?

It depends on the sun the glass takes, which way it faces and how it's cleaned. Tell the quote how long the graphic needs to stay up: for more than a year outside, we add an optically clear laminate that seals the holes and protects the print.

How much does perforated window film cost?

The price depends on the glass area, the number of pieces, whether it's laminated and what the install involves. Upload your file to the window graphics quote and you'll see the price for your glass, with the pieces drawn out.

Can I see out through perforated window film?

Yes, in daylight. From inside, the dark side of the film and its holes let you see out, a little shaded. At night, with the lights on inside, the view reverses and outside is hard to see.

Does perforated window film reduce glare and heat?

It shades the glass, so it cuts some of the glare and direct sun coming through. It isn't a solar-control or tint film, though, and we don't quote heat-rejection figures for it. If heat is the main problem, look for a solar window film.

Can I put small text on perforated film?

Keep lettering at least 2 inches tall — smaller text breaks up in the holes and gets hard to read. The Artwork check marks anything smaller. For small print like hours or a phone number, use clear film on its own part of the glass.
