The rules, venue by venue and show by show
Building rules apply to public areas and sit underneath every show; show rules govern your booth. Where they differ, the stricter one wins.
| Venue or show | Rule | Source |
|---|---|---|
| LVCC (building) | Clings need your convention service manager's approval and an approved material, and are installed and removed by the official service contractor or an approved vendor, who carries any damage chargeback. | LVCC Facility Guide, July 2026, p. 8 |
| LVCC (building) | Floor marking is chalk only; clear tape isn't used on exhibit hall floors; all floor-marking residue is cleaned up by the end of move-out. | LVCC Facility Guide, July 2026, pp. 20, 33 |

| Venetian Expo (building) | No tape that needs scraping; only the venue's approved tape or easily removable tape; only non-residue carpet tape in carpeted areas. | Venetian Expo General Contractor & Production Guide, pp. 22, 24 |
| MAGIC (Feb 2027, LVCC) | Floor decals printed on approved material, installed and removed by your exhibitor-appointed contractor, no residue left; residue cleaning charged back; no flames to install graphics. | MAGIC Custom Booth Guidelines, February 2027 |

Inside your booth vs public areas
Public areas — lobbies, concourses, aisles outside your booth, entrances — belong to the venue and the show. A floor graphic there is usually a sponsorship sold by show management, approved by the venue and installed by the venue's or the show's contractor. At the LVCC that's the official service contractor or an approved vendor; at Venetian Expo it's the general contractor.
Inside your booth, the show's rules decide, and they vary more than you'd expect. MAGIC allows floor decals on approved material, laid and lifted by your contractor. SHOT Show bars decals and adhesives on the exhibit-area floor altogether. Many shows put floor coverings under union jurisdiction unless your own full-time staff lay them. Read the display rules and the labor rules in your exhibitor kit before you design a floor graphic.

What to send for approval
Approvals go faster when the request answers the questions before they're asked. For each floor graphic, send your show or venue contact:
- A location plan — where it goes, marked on the floor plan, with distances to doors, escalators and stairs.
- The size and shape — overall dimensions, and whether it's one piece or several butted together.
- The material — the floor film and its anti-slip laminate, or carpet film for carpet. If they want technical data, ask us before you order.
- The removal plan — who lifts it, when, and how residue is dealt with.
- The installer — your own staff, your registered contractor, or the venue's or show's labor.
- A proof — the artwork as it will print. Our quote produces one you can attach.
Anti-slip, carpet and removal
Every vinyl floor graphic we print for sealed floors, show floors, tile, wood or concrete carries a textured anti-slip laminate; we don't sell hard-floor or sidewalk graphics without it. It also takes the scuffing from shoes and carts, so the print underneath lasts the show. If your venue asks for slip-resistance documentation, ask us before you order and we'll tell you what the laminate's maker publishes.
Carpet is different: show-floor and lobby carpet takes a carpet graphic film that grips low-pile carpet for short runs and peels up without residue. Large floor graphics are made from pieces that butt together rather than overlap, because an overlap is a trip edge, and floor pieces are kept to a size an installer can lay flat.
How cleanly a floor graphic lifts depends on the film, the surface and how long it has been down. Leave one down longer than planned, or put it on a surface it isn't made for, and residue becomes more likely — so plan the removal date when you choose the material.
Outdoor lots and sidewalks
Some shows spill outside — World of Concrete uses outdoor lots at the LVCC, and activations take over plazas. Rough concrete and pavers take a conformable sidewalk film with the anti-slip laminate, and the same approval questions apply: whose ground it is, who lays it, and how it comes up. At the LVCC, any marking on outdoor concrete is chalk only and must be cleaned off by the end of move-out.

Ordering floor graphics for a show
Upload your artwork to the floor graphics quote, choose the surface — sealed floor, carpet or rough concrete — and you'll see the pieces laid out at your size, with the price. Put the approved material and the venue in your notes. We deliver to your show's contractor or as your show directs; see the venue pages for the LVCC, Venetian Expo and Mandalay Bay, and floor graphics for the product itself.
Questions we get
Can floor graphics go anywhere in a convention venue?
No. Venues and shows decide where floor graphics may go and need to approve them. At Venetian Expo, for example, floor clings can't be placed in front of escalator or stair landings or door thresholds, and every cling needs the Expo Event Manager's approval.
Who installs floor clings in public areas?
The venue's or show's contractor. At the LVCC, clings are installed and removed by the official service contractor or an approved vendor; at Venetian Expo, by the general contractor.
Do floor decals need approval inside my booth?
Check your show's display rules. MAGIC allows floor decals on approved material, installed and removed by your contractor; SHOT Show bars decals and adhesives on the exhibit-area floor. Many shows also put floor coverings under union labor unless your own staff lay them.
What happens if a floor decal leaves residue?
You pay to clean it. MAGIC charges residue cleaning back to the exhibitor, AAPEX removes adhered floor covering at the exhibitor's expense, and the LVCC requires floor-marking residue cleaned up by the end of move-out.
Can floor graphics go on carpet?
Yes, on a carpet graphic film made to grip low-pile carpet for short runs and peel up without residue — if your show and venue allow floor graphics in that space.
Are your floor graphics slip-resistant?
Every vinyl graphic we print for a hard floor or outdoor concrete carries a textured anti-slip laminate; we don't sell them without it. If your venue asks for slip-resistance documentation, ask us before you order.
